Great dog breed and a great movie,

Had a Jack/Schnauzer mix (Schultz) who passed on 3 years ago this July. He was 17. Talk about a smart dog.
Man do I miss that little guy. What a great gift from a local animal shelter.
A dog to herd teens - I think there’s a market for that!
I live alone with my young old son and I am determined he and I will have a dog this year. I just love Border Collies and my heart is set on getting a border collie pup.
That said, I’m concerned about having an environment where our Border Collie can thrive as I know the breed is one of working dogs and I’ve read that Border Collies that sit home get really depressed. Their self-esteem and dignity is all about working.
I am planning to visit some sheep farms and see if I can rent a space for occasional herding and farm work. I’m thinking of advertising to others to bring their herding dogs for weekend exercises.
Please let me know your thoughts and experiences. Thank you.
Malin is French for clever!
LOL But they are pretty. Sorta dumb blondes, I guess.
German Shepherd intelligent, loyal, wants to please it’s owner. Owner must establish alpha with alpha male early on then you won’t find a better dog.
And a chauffeur
I just love my order Collie/Cattle dog. She’s as smart as they come and at times very demanding.
If she feels your not paying enough attention to her she’ll let you know by butting you with her nose.
When she does that you’ll know it because it hurts.
Now I know how a sheep feels when they’re being hurded.
My dog is mostly black with a greyish chest with a white tip on her tail.
What a beauty.I’m very happy we adopted her.
I’m very surprised that Briards didn’t make the list!
Oh, thank you. I didn’t know that! :-)
My pit bull can drive a car - has to be an automatic transmission, though.
We just buried our 16 1/2 year old blue heeler. He was 3/4 Australian Cattle Dog and 1/4 border collie. Smartest dog I’ve ever known (of course most of my dogs have been dachshunds). He had a strong “go to the ball” instinct and found his first frisbee. He would do back flips at a full run and catch the frisbee and return it. We stopped letting him jump for the frisbee when he was about 9 so his joints wouldn’t suffer and even in his last few weeks, he wanted us to throw it. He would bring it back and then lie down. He gradually changed to squeaky toys. I guess that they were easier on his mouth and didn’t challenge him to run. He’s buried on our farm. RIP Barkley.
That is funny.
I would have to take exception to the Blue Tick. They are good hunting dogs but not that smart.
Now if you only teach him how to deliver pizzas...

If you do that for your B Collie, you will have a happy dog. Good thinking!
They described the labrador perfectly. Mine likes to anticipate. He always tries to guess what is going to happen next and get ready BEFORE I say anything. He also has a need for speed when it comes to commands. LOL. I have taught many dogs to shake hands but none did it with the speed he does it. That too he tries to anticipate. So if I have a treat for him, he runs through the entire trick list before I even have a chance to give a command. He’s hilarious. Also he understands language amazingly well. He knows MANY words and is always adding new ones. He doesn’t seem to max out on that. He is a good listener, much better than most people
Is that your dog or just one from the internet?
The dumbest but sweetest dog I ever owned was a collie. He was the most lovable fella ever but not a lot upstairs. It just made him cute, imo.
