“A majority of both illegal and legal Latino immigrants are on welfare of some sort...”
____________-
I’m very suspicious of this assertion. I’ve worked in restaurants, industry, and construction with lots of Hispanics and they were damned hard workers. Obviously they had jobs, but if ever there was an opening on the job site, they would scorch the supervisor to give the job to someone they knew who was ready to work. There may be many on some sort of assistance, but I’d be surprised if it was a majority.
If they’re filing for taxes, they’re eligible for EITC. Even if they’re not, they were getting free healthcare before Obamacare. They are generally low-income workers, getting heating subsidies in cold-weather states, other reduced utilities, etc., etc.
They’re not all reclining on the sofa eating bon bons—they’re likely working at very low-wage jobs and raising their many future-voter babies. I’ve seen numbers putting it at approximately 57% for both legals and illegals from Latin countries.
