There are studies that demonstrate black immigrants from the Caribbean out-perform U.S. born blacks in terms of income, home ownership, marriage rates, educational achievement. I remember reading it years ago (20+ years+) and not since.

It is a big thick book. It deals with many, many aspects of the topic.
The primary thesis of the book, is that America’s social dysfunctions are closely tied to the intelligence of the individuals. Therefore the people who wind up on welfare, in prison, giving birth outside marriage, dropping out of school, etc. have relatively lower IQs regardless of race.
It then goes on to show that races have greater incidents of social dysfunction, again due to lower IQs.
It is quite a well documented and scholarly work. The authors were well recognized in their fields. Herrnstein is dead, but Murray is still active, and has many provocative ideas.
