When one considers a near total loss of modern medical care, food and energy distribution...and the roving bands of zombies, 2/3 is not so far fetched.

Dysentery is often a fatal disease without drugs and sanitation.

I tend to listen to engineers over hyperventilating pundits.
Damage from an EMP? sure. Widespread? Probably. 90%+ dead in a year? Paranoid hyperbole.
Anyone who feels otherwise is, of course, free to choose to live their lives and spend their dough as their irrational fears dictate. It’s still a free country, at least in that regard.
I have more productive things to do with my time and treasure though.
