So what? Are you suggesting that the typical farm today is 100% self-sufficient? Or that it can produce it’s own gasoline?

Anyway, even if the answer to both questions is “yes,”
how are the typical farmer and his family going to withstand the hordes of urban mobs that will be marauding the countryside in search of food? No farmer could never stockpile enough ammo and enough weaponry to withstand the thousands of rioters who will be roaming every square inch of the countryside.
