Well, then how about the Charleston, SC Post and Currier quoting the official police statement, before the existence of the video was known?
A statement released by North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said a man ran on foot from the traffic stop and an officer deployed his department-issued Taser in an attempt to stop him.
That did not work, police said, and an altercation ensued as the men struggled over the device. Police allege that during the struggle the man gained control of the Taser and attempted to use it against the officer.
The officer then resorted to his service weapon and shot him, police alleged.
We already know that a Taser only has one dart shot, but can also be used as a contact Taser after the darts have been fired. According to the official statement, when would have Scott had the time and knowledge to remove the spent cartridge, retrieve the reload from the butt of the Taser, reload the Taser, and shoot Slager?
as far as reloading the taser goes, if there was more than one cartridge in play the officer would have had to have reloaded. In addition to the darts, the cartridges are loaded with a bunch of paper discs serialized by the cartridge. So many that you can't clean them all up. From the dispersion you should be able to tell which direction the weapon was fired.
Getting ahead of yourself. Scott need not have knowledge as to using the taser; only that he thought he did and “attempted to use it” against Slager.
