‘Yellowstone nuking’ is a kind of like older Soviet military urban myth along with ‘San-Andreas nuking’ which is about to hit certain zones near the West Coast to force seismic process, separating California from mainland US and lowering it below Ocean level.
I don’t believe both things are possible and it is unlikely that operations like that were ever planned for real.
On the other hand, Communists proved itself as very capable in terms of out of proportion awful crimes against nature.
