Well, theres one way to ensure that everyone buys into the man-made global warming hoax: extortion. Starting next year the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will stop funds from going to states that refuse to believe that humans are causing climate change.
This news comes straight from the leftist eco-nuts at Inside Climate News, so you can be assured that it isnt a paranoid conservative interpretation of an innocuous FEMA regulation:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is making it tougher for governors to deny man-made climate change. Starting next year, the agency will approve disaster preparedness funds only for states whose governors approve hazard mitigation plans that address climate change.
Sounds pretty fascist to me. If you have the truth on your side, you do not need to force people to believe it. Only liars and charlatans resort to bullying tactics like this.
This may put several Republican governors who maintain the earth isnt warming due to human activities, or prefer to do nothing about it, into a political bind. Their position may block their states access to hundreds of millions of dollars in FEMA funds.
Basically it works like this: state governments must accept that man-made global warming is real and commit public funds to programs designed to mitigate the effects of it, even if it isnt real. State governments that fail to do this will loose out on millions, if not billions, in FEMA funds.
Specifically, beginning in March 2016, states seeking preparedness money will have to assess how climate change threatens their communities. Governors will have to sign off on hazard mitigation plans. While some states, including New York, have already started incorporating climate risks in their plans, most havent because FEMAs old 2008 guidelines didnt require it.
And it appears that this isnt just about global warming, but all things that environmentalist hate:
This could potentially become a major conflict for several Republican governors, said Barry Rabe, an expert on the politics of climate change at the University of Michigan. We arent just talking about coastal states. Climate change affects droughts, rainfall and tornado activity. Fracking is being linked to more earthquakes, he said. This could affect state leaders across the country.
What the hell does fracking have to do with global warming? Does this mean that states that allow fracking are also going to have funds withheld? Probably.
Dont go thinking this new regulation is a shakedown. According to FEMA spokeswoman Susan Hendrick forcing states to accept global warming as reality is actually just a way to raise awareness and support for implementing the actions in the mitigation strategy and increasing statewide resilience to natural hazards.
Raise awareness? Sounds more like a fun run than a tyrannical mandate.
Heres the best part about all this:
The new federal rules dont require public involvement in the creation of states disaster preparedness plans, eliminating the opportunity for environmental groups and concerned citizens to submit comments or concerns about the assessments.
So FEMA, an unelected body, will withhold vital funds from states if they dont believe in man-made global warming and there is to be no public debate or scrutiny. Thats as Obama as it gets. Im sure if this works out, hell try a similar scheme for gun control, gay marriage, and abortion.
“Law of the Land” — what a quaint and silly notion. The Law is whatever Le ROI says it is today.
Thought I have no doubt FEMA would pull such a fascist move, I’d like to see the actual policy or memorandum dictating such regulations...
In both the article and the source material... I see no proof this is real....
Lots of things get released as “news” and it’s complete BS...
blatant blackmail.
Epitomizes why states rights should be paramount in our country.
I am a Global Warming Denier and Proud of it !
God controls the weather, the sun, the moon, the stars.
I also deny the theory of evolution.
FEMA is for the unprepared , the ILL informed and the uninformed.
You’re just asking to be sent to camp.
Texas has enough oil that it can export said oil.
And Texas can tell feds to go pound sand.
Texas doesn’t need fed FEMA funds; we take care of our own here.
There is nothing outside of God’s will that catches God by suprize and there is nothing beyond God’s will that he doesn’t allow.
They would have to twart God’s will and stay God’s hand.
I have seen God deliver me time and time again, and protected me.
The Prophet Isaiah had this to say about God’s people and God”s divine protection for them.
No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper, and every tounge that rises up against me in Judgememt, thou shall condemn, for this is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their righteousness is of me saith the LORD.
Said states should stop sending federal tax payments to DC.
FEMA where Obama is hiding part of his army. Defund and dismantle to the very last drip.
Unfortunately, they but were chosen by other Republicans. No one wanted the retaliation of loosing their committee positions.
Very, very little integrity or courage left in Congress.
Sitting on a 500 pound bomb. What a thrill.
Ack...wrong thread. IOS and operator error.
and so it goes,, property rights, flushed.. states rights, flushed.. the hope that sanity might yet prevail, flushed.
Can FEMA match what the oil industry has brought to the coffers of my state? They can pound sand.
Didn’t the Supreme Court rule on this type of thuggery?
Simple solution, Close FEMA.
They can’t do that.
Just another ploy in the Obamatron.
Kick out the Climate Liars and FEMA leaves? Sounds like a twofer!
I say it again, WHERE IS THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE THAT PROMISES TO DISMANTLE THESE CRIMINAL DEPARTMENTS OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT???
What’s next, denying tax money to states that believe in GOD???
