The Catechism of the Catholic Church has this to say about presumption: "There are two kinds of presumption. Either man presumes upon his own capacities, (hoping to be able to save himself without help from on high), or he presumes upon God's almighty power or his mercy (hoping to obtain his forgiveness without conversion and glory without merit)." (CCC, 2092).

The "mercy" program of Cardinal Kasper is founded upon the sin of presumption.

Thanks for posting. If there’s one thing religion needs to guard against, it’s mercy. Mercy wrecks the whole system - just imagine people treating each other with mercy, what a catastrophe! No, like the worst drugs, people need to understand that mercy is only acceptable and safe under the strictest and narrowest of conditions, otherwise it’s a killer best left far, far away from good people, lest it rot their souls and turn them to evil.

I think is simpler.. Christ payed your debt.. we say it is forgiven but not in the way we think of..

Someone else, Christ had to pay your debt.. it to Christ Glory and your Shame that someone else had to pay your debt...

So it not open tab for you to run up debt on Christ to pay

Just because you don't have to pay does not mean it does not have to be paid.. it does get payed, by Christ ever day

So if you say you love Christ... why do you stick him with a tab everyday to pay for you..he is on that cross ever day..and your sticking him ever day causing just that much more pain
