The nasty stuff from Hill's is like what the Democrats say about Republicans. They can't prove it and they have to make it up. Hills has excellent quality control and was the first company to make a decent cat and dog food. First, find out what kind of crystals. Second, feed appropriate diet. A culture of the urine may be indicated. Stay away from OTC uninary health unless one knows what kind of crystals are being formed. If all fails a perineal urethrostomy may be needed to make sure it won't block again.

If the crystals are calcium oxalates, cranberry juice or extracts make it worse. Urinary health diets OTC are made for prevention of struvites, not calcium oxalates.
