Years ago there was a fish fry restaurant named Jake's on the bank of Blossom Creek in West Seneca at Clinton Street and Borden Road. Fried walleye on Friday nights, pitchers of beer and every WWII vet smoking through the night. Blanche was the best waitress by far.

Those were the days when people smoked in restaurants and the waitress was actually named Blanche.

Small world, I used to live about a mile west from there, towards Union ... Very familiar with the locale ;-)

I hadn’t been at that place for years; last time was a few years ago for a funeral dinner, from that parlor across the corner. I guess it’s been under newer management for quite awhile.
