I have a great, great, great Grandfather named Thor. His Son's name is Christopher Thoreson. Christopher Thoreson's son is Lauritz Christopherson. He emigrated to US in 1875 and was the first of our line named Christopherson.
There is a now obsure Norweigien author I read many years ago. Even you, a Norse decendant may not be familiar with her. My eyes wandered in a library, and happened to settle on a hugely thick novel written by Sigrid Undset; the title was Kristin Lavransdatter. It won the Nobel Prize in Literature 1928. Kristin Lavransdatter is a trilogy about life in Scandinavia in the middle ages, portrayed through the experiences of a woman from birth until her death.
It was an interesting read, though difficult, as there was so much melodrama. I was in a mood, so I over a few weeks I read all 1168 pages. It was a wrenching, sometimes morbid experience reading about that life. I will not be re-reading it any time soon.
