I do appreciate the folks on FR for expanding/broadening my exposure to many things.

I like the part where Michael Caine is about to kill some guy, he says, IIRC, “Make peace mit yore Gott!”

I don't know why Hollywood studios reject the production art of old for these computer paste ups they use on the DVDs.

Just watched - liked it very much, even Michael Caine’s “Germanish” accent!

I saw this movie many years ago when it first came out. I thought it was outstanding then and never understood why it was never widely heralded. As I recall, the scenery and location were stunning and the plot was really good. The bad guys got their comeuppance, too.

I never thought of it as a SHTF movie but forty years ago, we weren't thinking about such things in those days and even figured we could probably survive a Soviet nuclear attack. Nowadays, with our rotten leadership and supine, Leftist population the possibility of surviving a catastrophic event is much more questionable.

Very moving and meaningful!

I saw the whole thing.

The value of the shaky warrior/farmer arrangement was clear, though that obviously the film had many messages.

Very, very good film, it’s sad and puzzling how sometimes one film garners HUGE interest with so/so value, while gems like this sometimes wallow in eternal obscurity...

Great, great film.
