I think in the 50s-60s we might also have been very vulnerable to a grid-down disaster, but we only saw it post nuclear war. But in that era, Americans had a very self-reliant attitude. Today, the grid has become our exposed jugular vein, we have become invalids, and the world is full of angry punks with straight razors looking at that pulsing vein.

Watched the first two segments, very good. I'm going to try to find a DVD for better quality.
Our first rule is no religious quarrels among us, and the one who breaks it is a dead man.
Sometimes I'd like to see that rule here.

I just finished it.
That movie is ripe for a REMAKE, and it was worth my time.
I just wished I could find a copy in a format better than 360 DPI.

I agree it seems like it would be a natural for remastering in hi-def format because:
1. The wide-screen format that made it a theatrical-release orphan in 1971 would work well on home big-screens in 2015.
2. The post-SHTF/Mad Max/collapse of civilization genre is much more in tune with our times than it was in 1971.
3. The John Barry soundtrack was epic. If the film had been made in a regular-width format, and it had found initial success, the soundtrack would have helped to carry the movie and vice-versa.

“SPOILER ALERT” Yeah, too bad about her, but at least the priest went on the fire with her.
And no merciful neck stab first for him.
Wiccans were not too popular then. Even a wise man like Vogel knew to keep his mouth shut and do what he had to do on the QT. But at least he gave her a mercy killing death first. He didn’t just stand there watching her go into the flames alive.

I think “The Purge” is silly. You can’t be homicidal to your neighbors for one night and then get along the rest of the year.
I found the motives and actions in TLV to be in keeping with what I know and expect of human nature after decades of all-out civil war.

Such as the script, cinematography, etc.
I love movies. I like bad movies sometimes. Never heard of this one.

I could just see
Liam Neeson as 'The Captain",
Nicole Kidman as the daughter who does't get handed over tho the soldiers,
Nicolas Cage as the run away who becomes the negotiator,
Shakira as the witch,
Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of the Village,
Pierce Brosnan as the evil Priest
Y'all can have fun suggesting other actors and actresses to cast the REMAKE
"The Last Valley" .

If you can take I have seen the movie The Road. Talk about hopeless.
I watched it too. Most depressing movie I've seen. No explanation regarding the circumstances and no resolution in the ending..........That was an EPIC FAIL too.......

I checked this movies first few minutes and it gets off to a quick start...Also noted many comments beneath the movie praise it highly...I’ve already seen why in just the first few minutes.
Will now go and finish watching the entire...
Thanks for linking it.

I don’t think so. I can’t think of a really good comparable SHTF movie. The Road is too grim, just kill yourself already. Mad Max is silly, they are out of ammo but have plenty of nitro-burning monster trucks? Really? I can’t think of a really good contemporary SHTF. Book of Eli is good but mystical (blind man who shoots arrows etc.)

I'm boycotting Liam Neeson.
Did you see "Fury?" Outstanding war flick. My vote is Brad Pitt for the Captain.
