Just finished it. Great film. Thanks for the thread and the link.

I understand and can support your position.
Thanks for the recommendation. I watched it and will have to reflect on it. BTTT.
He actually said, “Make peace with your God” with a German-ish accent. Not mit or Gott.
This is prior to being about to run a prisoner through with a sword.
Good points all......have to agree. You get a screen writer for your trilogy yet..... I’m gettin old my friend.....:o)
Want to see that movie someday !
A movie EFAD will never happen.
Except between your ears.
Well its there.......:o)
Thoughts to ponder.....
Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent’s fate.(Sun Tzu)
Weapons are an important factor in war, but not the decisive one; it is man and not materials that counts. (Mao)
The guerrilla must move amongst the people as a fish swims in the sea. .(Mao)

Well as the late great Sec of Ag Earl Butt’s once said .....all we need is a warm place to take a dump an loose shoes. We there ....on or off the plantation....we there.
I seem to recall a third item.... ;)
Well don’t want to get banned ....:O)
You’ll have to remind me on FReep Mail....!!!
Very moving and meaningful!
I saw the whole thing.
The value of the shaky warrior/farmer arrangement was clear, though that obviously the film had many messages.
Very, very good film, it’s sad and puzzling how sometimes one film garners HUGE interest with so/so value, while gems like this sometimes wallow in eternal obscurity...
Great, great film.
DA PIMP...!!!! Dayum..!
I think the timing of the movie too late after the widescreen “Lawrence of Arabia” wave doomed it. The ultra-wide screen format meant it could not be a winner in small/medium theaters. Often studios can sabotage a great movie with their decisions.
For example, Charlton Heston’s “Major Dundee” was a great masterpiece that was chopped and ruined by the studio when they decided to make a 3 hour epic into a 2 hour Western.
1632 and the rest of that series are phenomenol (of course, I’m a hard science scifi fan). The only real leap of faith is the aliens doing experiments and transporting the town back in time - the rest is a masterpiece of What If? done in a very realistic way, given the premise.
