Moderate climate, stable government, low crime rate, predominantly English speaking (I’m stuck in SoCal right now, so that is VERY important to me,) and not anti-gun is exactly what I’m looking for. Looking at retiring in about three years.

Love your weather, but couldn’t stand the government there.
(have a close Army buddy in SoCal)

I have a handful of friends that left Middle Tennessee around two years ago for Ecuador. They LOVE IT. Friendly people, low prices, good health care, fresh fruits and vegetables, wonderful weather ...They are all happy except for missing grandchildren. One couple, Vanderbilt graduates, married 50 years, got rid of everything they owned and left with 8 card board boxes. They rent a two bedroom condo, beautifully furnished with all utilities including Inet for $600 a month. Health insurance for the two, including dental 100 a month. I talk with my friend 2-3 times a week because she has majik jack and it sounds like she is still down the street from me and she is completely happy for a 72 year old woman, she would be happier if she were a 40 yr. old woman...aint going to happen. Check out Ecuador.
