Speaking to the Aspen Institute on February 6, Michael Bloomberg said cities should ban young minority males from owning guns, both as an effort to reduce crime and to keep those minority males “alive.”

Bloomberg talks to reporters after meeting with Obama and business and civic leaders for an event to discuss his "My Brother's Keeper" initiative at the White House in Washington According to The Aspen Times, Bloomberg addressed a variety of topics, and after commenting on poverty and education, he discussed guns. The Times reported that he said, “Cities need to get guns out of [the] … hands” of persons who are “male, minority, and between the ages of 15 and 25.”

He claimed that “95 percent of all murders fall into this category” and that taking guns away from them will not only reduce crime, but will “keep them alive.”

"He claimed that “95 percent of all murders fall into this category” and that taking guns away from them will not only reduce crime, but will “keep them alive.”

Is he profiling?

What is the benefit to anyone for keeping them alive?

They contribute zero!

I read complaints about the large number of Black males in prison. A sobering thought is to imagine what things would be like if they weren't in prison.

So... Bloomberg, no longer being content to violate EVERYBODY'S second amendment rights, now want's to violate the fifteenth amendment rights of what he is calling "Minority Youth"?

They used to have a name for this sort of thing. It was called "racial discrimination". There was whole a movement all about it way back then.

An idiotic statement.

LEGAL gun ownership, even by “Young Minority Males”, has never been the problem.

It’s the ILLEGAL weapons that have always been the problem, and new “Gun Laws” aren’t going to a damn thing to stop it.

Yes, a law preventing them from owning firearms will work. More laws are always the solution to everything. We certainly don’t have enough on the books. Utopia is just around the corner with a few more laws.

Of course, the laws will have to be expanded to include epees and dogs...

The Racist Roots of Gun Control
https://www.firearmsandliberty.com/cramer.racism.html

Racist arms laws predate the establishment of the United States. Starting in 1751, the French Black Code required Louisiana colonists to stop any blacks, and if necessary, beat “any black carrying any potential weapon, such as a cane.” If a black refused to stop on demand, and was on horseback, the colonist was authorized to “shoot to kill.”
In the sixteenth century the colony of New Spain, terrified of black slave revolts, prohibited all blacks, free and slave, from carrying arms.

In the Haitian Revolution of the 1790s, the slave population successfully threw off their French masters, but the Revolution degenerated into a race war, aggravating existing fears in the French Louisiana colony, and among whites in the slave states of the United States. When the first U. S. official arrived in New Orleans in 1803 to take charge of this new American possession, the planters sought to have the existing free black militia disarmed, and otherwise exclude “free blacks from positions in which they were required to bear arms,” including such non-military functions as slave-catching crews.

The New Orleans city government also stopped whites from teaching fencing to free blacks, and then, when free blacks sought to teach fencing, similarly prohibited their efforts as well.

The perception that free blacks were sympathetic to the plight of their enslaved brothers, and the dangerous example that “a Negro could be free” also caused the slave states to pass laws designed to disarm all blacks, both slave and free. Unlike the gun control laws passed after the Civil War, these antebellum statutes were for blacks alone.

In Maryland, these prohibitions went so far as to prohibit free blacks from owning dogs without a license, and authorizing any white to kill an unlicensed dog owned by a free black, for fear that blacks would use dogs as weapons. Mississippi went further, and prohibited any ownership of a dog by a black person.

I guarantee that if leftists over get an absolute lock on power in the US the first group to feel their fury will be blacks. The left is about power and if they no longer need the minority vote they will savage them to lock in support from the majority.

To all you marxist blacks that troll this site please look at how socialists from Hitler to Stalin treated the the very Jews that invented Marxism/communism/socialism and helped bring it about.

Banning any category of people from possession of handguns or any guns does not affect whether or not such people will obtain or use use guns in crime. No one should be legally banned from possession of any weapon who is not legally incarcerated under institutional control. That is the only exception the Constitution makes to “shall not be infringed” under the involuntary servitude provision of the Thirteenth Amendment.

Taking guns away from them may or may not not reduce crime. It may well increase the theft of guns and trafficking of illegally obtained guns. Taking guns away from criminals does not keep them from having guns. It does prevent law abiding minority persons having the means to defend themselves against the criminal element. It will slightly alter the ratio of shot dead criminals to shot dead innocents in favor of the criminals.

ILLEGAL weapons are not the problem. Criminal use of any weapons, legal or illegal is the problem. The fact of weapons being illegal is Unconstitutional, any weapons described as “arms” any time.
