I dont often use this space for personal appeals, but feel compelled to do so today. In addition to losing my uncle, John Marmo, earlier this year to suicide, my best friend, Fiona Fort, took her life after struggling with the chronic pain of depression for most of her adult life.
Even if you are fortunate enough to have never grieved the loss of a loved one to this disease-or to know someone suffering from suicidal ideation-I urge those of you who can to contribute to the American Foundation for Suicide Preventions Denver Metro Walk Out of the Darkness Community Walk.
Its a long name for an extremely important event. Your donation will be put towards one of the primary organizations dedicated to understanding and preventing an act which takes the lives of over 40,000 Americans each year. You can read my friend Anns story and donate to her cause here.

I think your postings are getting very confusing........

Kinda speaks for itself.
Huh? No it doesn't, not at all..........
how about doing us (ME) a favor and connecting all the dots so as to make it manageable for us (ME) to understand?
Who are all these people and how do they all fit in together?
Chris Van Loon posted on Free Republic as "TrappedInLiberalHell". You can find this linked on the Free Republic Memorial Wall.
Before his tragic demise, Chris and Fiona married, and hiked the Pacific Coast Trail. He had posted a lengthy journal containing his plans, his preparations, and much of the journey itself.
Those of us on the UT came to know Fiona as Kangaroo Jacqui. She was trying to pull herself together at that point, but she was really very shattered; pretty much beyond anything we were able to hug back together.
Thank you for clearing that all up.......it was very confusing.
Faith is the only thing that keeps us going.
So sorry to hear about your uncle. :-(
I didn’t have the whole sequence down, either.
While I read thru it in its entirety, the log entries ended abruptly on June 5, 2003 and that most of the actual trip entries were made by Kia.......I found that kind of strange.
Not having, at the time, a compact phone system to use, they probably elected to carry a single laptop. Phoenix may have been carrying most of the other pack materials.
