I can see how this could be fun... for a while.
there is such a Universal Basic Income, in ..ah...certain neighborhoods already
Mike Brown the gentle giant lived in one of them
Libertarians have always been mad.
Now they think the way to go is to take it from you and give it to others more directly. Pure insanity.
“...a space-tourism executive...”
That’s what I wanna be when I grow up.
Also, I noticed another article in this issue of "Vice"
How to Embrace Your Aging Vagina.
“engineering economic security.”
That’s not a Libertarian idea. It’s a collectivist idea. And I’m not a Libertarian.
Central planning always fails. These folks have never studied Economics or history. They may know a little tech, but they know a lot of arrogance. And arrogance usually comes from ignorance.
yeah life is so “wonderful” in those basic income neighborhoods ( more like hell on Earth). all these silicon valley liberals should move there.
basic income as in universal income as in universal healthcare : how did that turn out Obamacare ( hell on Earth again.
basic housing : result :housing projects
basic eduction : result :public schools
basic income : result : welfare
basic income :result : same crap
Universal basic income would demand an outgo from somewhere that will not be basic at all.
Another fallacy these techies believe is that there tech eliminates jobs. So they feel guilty about that.
That idea has been around since even before the industrial revolution. And it’s false.
Hayek and Friedman provide rebuttals to this idea.
Yes you are right.
these collectivists think we are stupid.
collectivism = central planning = socialism : never works.
I’m lazy and I oppose it on principle
mid bleach and anatomically it is impossible, right?
“That same week, an article appeared in the Atlantic making a “conservative case for a guaranteed basic income.””
This is a fallacy IMO. Do Conservative Freepers believe this?
I can hardly believe a conservative article was published in The Atlantic.
The Guaranteed Annual Income has been around since Nixon and Moynihan were pushing it in the early 70s.
The principle attraction is the efficiency of cutting out the bureaucratic overhead of the welfare agencies.
The obvious objection is the disincentive to work.
But there already is a universal basic income: $0.
And everybody gets it, every day.
” libertarian heroes like Milton Friedman “
I don’t think Friedman would call himself a Libertarian.
There are many errors and poor assumptions in this article.
Yes. Definitely not anatomically possible for most. Would require the help of a very good friend.
Let’s go full idiot. Why not? Let’s get ours like the Rats and pubbies are. Working is for chumps.
