Grandfather? Great-grandfather?

My grandpa was born in 1920, and his father was born around 1890.

HIS father would have been about 1 when the Civil War started, so it would be my great-great-great grandfather who would have been around before the war.

That is, if any of my ancestors had been in the US before the war, which they weren’t.

Same here. My grandfather came to this country around 1900 from Santander, Spain. His ancestors were sheepherders eking out a living in the north Cantabrian mountains.

Go away, Azealia.

My great grandparents came over from Poland between the two world wars, and they weren’t exactly royalty in Poland when they left.

Do I get a check for the four generations of whiteys in my family who’ve been paying taxes to subsidize the lazy black underclass since the 60s?

I’d settle for a refund of just what I’ve paid in over 30 years of working.
