and too many folks do not notice our transformation because we are making the mistake of identifying ‘freedom’ with the forms, not understanding the spirit of liberty has changed to one of dependence, safety and security.

Aye — And far too many people are willing, able, and eager to throw away freedom/liberty when it suits their convenience or particular moral-opinion. How many people support (e.g.) the encroachments on the Fourth amendment by War on Drugs because they're druggies/they're gang/cartel members? Or, from this thread, how many even here on a conservative site are willing to justify torture because they're terrorists? (As if who it's done to somehow impacts the moral rightness of the action itself rather than the action itself being judged as a moral wrong.)

I don't think it even need to get as deep as one's morals or even their opinion - but their financial security. How many on Social Security would be willing to overturn a government that hands them money?

Taxation without representation has been the norm for a long time. Look at all the various taxes we are subjected to - then add to that all the taxes that are disguised as 'fees'. I find that very few even know what income tax bracket they are in, much less know the dollar amount they pay in taxes each year. They just accept the theft of their earnings as normal.

Or how many don't want to rock the boat and risk an audit from the IRS? The IRS is Obama's Gestapo, targeting groups that don't go along with their views.
