.
Jesus was NOT the son of a carpenter.

Courageous Iraqi Christian teenagers literally losing their heads today because they claim that Jesus is the Son of God.

Millions have done the same in the last 20 centuries.

Of course not. But give me a break. Joseph was Jesus' stepfather in all ways but biological. God would not have a single mother raise His son. Nitpicking is not useful.

Jesus was NOT the son of a carpenter.

The people of his day/hometown certainly thought so:

(Mat. 13:55)
Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?

(Mk. 6:3)
Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us? And they took offense at him.

(Jn. 6:42)
They said, Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?

It was this response, IIRC, that made Jesus say that a prophet is without honor in his own country.

This is true; but that Joseph was his adopted/earthly father is important because it fulfills prophecy: namely his line of succession was the line through which the kingship had to pass, but it was also under a curse that none of the line would sit on David's throne.
