I swear by Vitamin C tablets that also include echinacea and zinc to help with these colds, etc.
Recommend a Family sized can of Hall’s Honey-Lemon Menthol-lyptus cough drops. Also some Ricola LemonMint Herb Throat Drops.
Drink lots of water and watch some tear-jerker movies to help loosen up the sinuses.
Alternate sleep, sitting, standing, walking.
It sounds like the head cold I am just getting over.
Chicken broth or soup is also good. Use a humidifier if you have one. (Buy one at target for $30)
Most of the symptoms are secondary to the ailment. Sinuses are a funny thing. We generally have allergies and some runny nose all the time, but just aren’t cognizant of it. Once a certain percentage of the sinuses get clogged or the mucous becomes dried and hardened, reducing the amount of sinus surface area available, we tend to develop asthma and/or the effects of a cold become exponentially worse.
Focus on fluids and keeping the sinuses clear. Use the cough drops to sooth and coat the throat.
Might also try lightly some over the counter expectorants, such as DayQuil DM or Robotussin DM.
REALLY!...Where can I get some of that???....<;^)
bkmk
I’m not a fan of doctors, but any persistent sore throat that is red and inflamed needs to be tested....for that one reason. I knew someone who died young, from having had scarlet fever (an undetected strep throat), that affected her heart when she was very young...she was mid thirties.
Once you get a negative to strep throat test, then treat as you want, but if positive take the antibiotics and as a woman don’t forget to follow up daily with either buttermilk or non pasteurized type of yogurt, that will keep you from getting a yeast infection. Replace that good bacteria the antibiotics will destroy in your intestine.
I prayed for you.
Black elderberry, produced by Sambucus and other brands is sold in liquid form. It will shorten the duration of these types of illnesses.
Take 10,000 iu of vitamin D3 now for 3 days ( unless you are allergic)...then get to doc...and get your D3 levels tested too
I’m into my 13 year without a cold or the flu.
I am also in my eighties.
For the last 13 years i changed my breakfast menu to this:
Trader Joes Flax-Plus Cerele.
Blueberries, fresh or frozen.
Rice Drink or Rice Milk.
I don’t drink cows milk as a rule.
In the winter i’ll have oatmeal and 1 teaspoon of flax seeds, and blueberries once or twice a week instead.
Now i don’t know if this is the reason cause there is no blind studies to prove or disprove it.
Since i don’t know the reason, i’m staying the course.
The original formula of Nyquil worked but this new stuff doesn’t do a thing.
I knew an idiot once who had really bad him-0-roids, and his doctor prescribed suppositories.
The fool took 'em to his followup visit and told the doctor, "For all the good these things have done, I could have shoved 'em up my ass!"
BINGO: Oregano Oil is both anti-bacterial and anti-viral in your case put a couple of drops of oil in a glass of water, not much water just enough to gargle one time then swallow it, do this 3 or 4 times a day until healed, you will feel a significant difference after the first day, it may even be cleared after the first day, but continue for a couple days anyway. You can get it in any supplement store but make sure it is a minimum of 85% Carvacrol on the label. Be advised it is powerful and the flavor is strong do a search about all the benefits, I've tried many so-called remedies this is the only thing that lives up to the hype, it works fast and has many uses, I even use it on my dog a schnauzer prone to a specific skin disease, I was paying $66 a month for a prescription that barely eased the symptoms, rubbed a few drops on her belly in a couple of days all gone, doesn't cure the disease but when the pimples start to show she starts scratching, rub a few drops and it quickly clears up.
Be careful. Whatever bug it is, is living in you but not beating you. (I know, almost, but it hasn’t. It’s made your life miserable but in a chronic way, not an acute way.) the doc will probably give you antibiotics, but if you try on your own, with all the tips you are getting, and you kick this thing to the curb, YOULL HAVE STRENGTHENED YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM (which is mostly in your gut biome) whereas if you do resort to antibiotics, you might have weakened it to the point that you will be more susceptible all winter to other viruses.
Caveat: if you have severe bronchitis or pneumonia, take the dang antibiotic, and spend the next month powering your immune system. Antibiotics are last resorts for the seriously ill, and should be used if that is the case.
WHat I had noticed abou the flu is that it makes one sick in a way that is not similar to a cold. It’s basically debilitating, and the onset of it is like being hit by a train.
I never do flu shots either, I’m basically scared of them, and since that one case of flu, I have never had it again.
I’m pretty sure you have strep throat; go in your bathroom (don’t turn the light on) with a flashlight, and shine the light in your throat as you look in the mirror. If you have white spots in your throat or raised red patches, you’ve definitely got strep. A shot in the backside with a prescription to take home, and in about a week you’ll have it whipped.
Wouldn’t that be psychosomatic?
Not necessarily. I think the most common reason for it is attention. People who have nothing wrong want to believe there is something wrong, because then they will get sympathy and attention. Sort of like a mild Munchausen syndrome.
When you first feel that odd sensation in your throat or sinuses: (1) Take Zinc lozenges -- NOT ColdEase, which is useless. I recommend the citrus zinc lozenges from VitaCost. (2) Take a (preferably liquid form of) Vitamin B in large dosage. Don't waste time with Centrum crap with only 100mg. You need 1000mg of most (Ribo, B12, B6, etc); (3) Stay away from all sugar, and limit milk products until symptoms clear
I was tired of autocorrect insisting upon making me appear drunk or stoned... so I turned the feature off on my phone so that I may legitimately own all all my mistakes.
Aw man
I haven’t had those in years.
Thanks Shibumi.
Yer the best
This one is kinduh weird.
I can feel it trying to take hold but, extremely slow.
Little bit more each day.
Yesterday it was only slight and in my throat. This morning it’s creeping into my sinus.
This outta be a good one.
