nonsense, yes they were Catholic or universal...they were called that within the first century. Constatine did indeed formally give them acknowledgement, but they were Catholic long before then......formal name???, you are probably correct, what then is a formal name? They were referred to as Catholic and formality is merely someones idea of what ever they consder it is.

You understand that is purely your opinion...there is not one single document or reference that calls the early church leaders (1 st century) Catholics...
