The author probably needed cash. Writing flame bait, especially geared toward a publication is a good way to do it. Writers write to fit a publication’s slant. You wouldn’t submit this type of screed to Woman’s Day or literary journal.

Very true, they’re not writing to actually educate anyone or expose and issue... They are writing to get past an editor, get published, and get paid, period.
