What’s with the German style helmet?

Looks like a typical post-1970s US-issue helmet to me...the cloth camo cover typically seen in US service hides its resemblance to the classic German “coal scuttle” helmet.

The German Stahlhelm m1940 and variants was simply one of the best designed helmets ever produced — most modern helmet patterns are based on it, including helmets used by US troops. The cloth cover on modern American helmets conceals the resemblance to the old “coal skuttle” helmet.
