Liberalism has a strong totalitarian streak in it.
Yes, they talk about the “free speech” movement and all that. But, liberals want to stifle speech, they want to restrict and censor all but liberal speech.
We are in Orwell’s 1984 in some ways. Liberals claim to be tolerant but are anything but.
My favorite example, is when Juan Williams was fired by NPR for allegedly controversial comments about Islam and terrorism. The liberal president head of NPR said that Juan Williams needed to see a psychiatrist.
Then, liberal commentator Williams was hired by the allegedly racist bigoted closed minded too conservative Fox News Network.
A liberal network fired Williams, and a conservative leaning network is the network which gave him a job.

Now a true Lib understands this completely.
Remember they were ‘weaned’ by Pols and Economists (Lib for most part) that if a Bureau had a 50 million dollar budget in 2013 and a 100 million dollar Budget in 2014 and asked for a 200 million dollar Budget in 2015 AND an R leaning Congress approved a 150 million dollar budget for 2015, the Libs all jump up and scream ‘WE’ cut the Budget 50 million dollars so lets shut down the government by not voting for it then blame the R’s.
Of course it doesn’t ‘help’ that IF AND WHEN an R says something about the ‘problem’, it is too late to correct ‘public opinion’.
Remember what made Reagan so popular...He took it to the people and the people listened, with his remarks/solutions supposedly coming from the ‘heart’.
BO tried the same tack, he does have the (scripted) delivery and ‘probably’ the charisma to pull it off, with the exception being if during the speech someone would ask RR what time it was, he would look at his watch and say something like - Welll I have 5PM so guess that is pretty close etc....
BO would have to peer at the teleprompter, look askance (not in the script) make some remark about who cares then stumble around till someone gets him back to the ‘script on the teleprompter’.
It never occurred to me to desire to ‘have a beer’ with him but would wonder how a ‘typical’ conversation would go.
He certainly is uncomfortable on ‘open mike night’...
Like they say, take away the Boots and Hat and all that is left is a pile of Horse Apples....
