Well..Columbus was a bit on the Hitler side. He didn’t discover America...he accidentally ran into land already discovered by the Vikings. It should be called Viking Day.
The Viking attempt failed, was recorded in legend alone,[pretty much] basically. The Irish, the Chinese/Indonesian/Japanese and other Pacificers may have been here also but left no mark. Columbus gets the credit because his discovery spawned the colonization of the Americas. AND he was paisan...fergetaboutit.
