* Survivalists warned families would not cope if an epidemic happened now
* Families 'must take it upon themselves to prepare for worst in advance'
* Experts advise avoiding all human contact and stocking up on supplies
* In worst case scenario flee to uncontaminated area with emergency kits
Stocking up on drinking water and avoiding all human contact are among steps that will have to be taken to avoid an Ebola epidemic, survivalists have warned.
To avoid contracting the deadly virus people will have to barricade themselves in their homes if the infection spreads, they say.
Their advice comes as sales of protective clothing and home infection control kits rise with an increasing number of people fearing the worst.
Around 4,000 people have died after contracting Ebola which broke out in western Africa in March.
While the threat of an epidemic in the UK remains low, experts have warned those who have a good chance of surviving an outbreak must prepare now before it is too late.
One survivalist, known only as Steve, said among the ways to stay safe in the worst possible scenario is to avoid all human contact.
'If this virus were to really get hold it would expand exponentially and result in a very big mortality rate....

should the military’s first business be to depose a defacto dictatorship?
Yes, I do assume that we will have running water and electricity.
Sorry to butt in about headaches. Is it migraine? Asking because I get four days clusters and have found something that works for me. If you want to know I’ll send you a private message.
Well I’m just thinking if everyone stays put self-quarantined who is going to deliver the fuel to run the power plants?
But, are they TSA approved? ;-)
All of America is not going to suddenly quit their jobs and sit at home waiting to be evicted, they will be going to work, the self quarantine discussion is more just a prepper exercise that we do.
What is your treatment for cluster headaches, I get those.
I guess my trust of government is nil to handle anything at this point because of the massive and complete ineptitude.
I’m not trying to be argumentative because I know you guys are some of the brightest minds here but we are talking about panic, fear, hunger unknowns and when people are confronted with that they become very dangerous animals. I have no doubt I could become a monster very quickly were my family in danger. You know people are basically 3 days worth of meals from becoming cave dwellers and I don’t speak of the preppers. I am talking about the ones who didn’t prep. There will be too many ferals to fend off unless communities band together and people nowadays aren’t that smart, loyal or human. My husband and I are claims adjusters and we see people at their worst and humans can become nasty, threatening and inhuman in the blink of an eye. Just saying.
No, but my sister gets those. Please send.
I doubt the workers at the power, water and sewer plants will even show up to keep them running if SHTF. Everyone will suffer equally...and get ‘their fair share’...the Marxist way.
Re: utilities, you are off by about 5 orders of magnitude.
That is the EMP type scenario you just described, right now we are only talking about Ebola, and Ebola is not going to lead to widespread collapse in America.
At least not this time, this is just a wake up call to get ready for professional and widespread, bioterrorist attacks.
Thank goodness for wells and septic systems.
We have Ebola in Dallas, when do you expect the resulting collapse of our utilities nationwide?
They don’t realize how long Ebola is likely to be around.
I’m not projecting that.
We don’t have a military with resources to act as reserves for the nation’s utility transmission and distribution systems, nor to operate them.
If you have one that is good! I am not prepped in this big city with such things, but could bug out to Mississippi, where we would have all those things. Just praying it doesn’t get out of hand. I would hate to be forced to flee.
The military doesn’t have to, the workers will be showing up for work as usual, and if they ever needed help, the military could offer lots of it.
I don’t know what you are trying to get at, but it hasn’t become clear yet.
