Could have been nonrefundable. So they let him keep the ticket. But very odd. Company buys him ticket. Then he quits 2 days later. Then handles a woman with Ebola ?

Silson Global Business is an authorized service contractor for UPS.

Duncan was a driver for Safeway Cargo, the Liberian customs clearance agent for FedEx.

Why would either company buy a ticket to the US for a driver?

There are, and a quick check of Kayak indicates it's cheaper to fly to Brussels and then to Dallas than to book a direct flight.

I have a strange feeling that Duncan is not his real name. He probably used an alias to obtain a visa or some such nonsense.

According to this linked article (UA ticket agent info), his ticket was purchased on Sept 2. Wouldn’t that be before he was exposed/infected by his landlord’s ill family members (that he helped move)? Maybe I’m missing something here.

Does anyone know how long it would take for him to get a US visa? His Ebola exposure was on the 15th. Four days later he was on the plane. Therefore, it's unlikely he came to the US for Ebola treatment.

Also, if had planned to come here for treatment, why did he not object when they sent him home from the ER with an antibiotic prescription, despite his having disclosed his recent arrival from Liberia?

That’s what I’m trying to figure. The timing/dates don’t add up for him having “planned” this, if in fact, his ticket was purchased on the date the UA agent said...and he was infected on the reported date.

It may be done by “bribes”, very common in Africa. Anything can be bought on short notice. Visas, name changes, etc...

Thanks for pointing that out. It is my understanding that the virus load is too small in the early days and grows exponentially until it overwhelms the body.
