I am understandably having problems grappling with your position. In another reply on another thread when flatly asked for your position on Article V you replied in capital letters:

DO IT

Which you followed with many of the concerns you expressed about the ability to have the new constitutional amendments honored in the teeth of a tyrannical government. You suggest that this is a new category but you are dealing with a new concept. My categories have to do with objections to attempting an Article V process. If you believe that it will not be honored then you need a new category which says "don't try it, it won't be honored" but you are on record as saying, "DO IT" but it won't be honored.

The degree to which it will be honored or dishonored depends on a variety of factors only one of which is the intransigence of the elites presently in power. Other factors include the degree and intensity of public support. We do not know and cannot know in advance how a post constitutional reform will play out in practical politics.

But we can "do it" and say to our children, "at least we tried."

Article V is being sold for support as our last-chance attempt to restrain a post-Constitutional government by civil means.

I want to know how they intend for that to happen when the Object of the process is a post-Constitutional lawless oligarchy?

Can an uncivil lawless entity be brought to abide by the rule of law by civil means - which is what we are being told is the REASON we need to support a Convention to Propose Amendments? If that is the selling point - EXPLAIN to us how that will happen so we can support the process.

If you intend to do this simply for the sake of telling your kids “well, at least we tried” then I submit that those of you arguing for this process are not really serious about stopping the tyranny that is now our government. Either that, or you have absolutely no understanding of the true nature of that which you intend to restrain.

I worry that this movement will end up becoming a cliche along the lines of “If you want to stop an out-of-control federal government, vote Republican”.
