Rock N Roll was attributed to Chuck Berry (Maybellene), but he adapted Bob Will’s tune (1938) “Ida Red”...so actually Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys invented Rock N Rock.

Let's not forget that the Beatles, Clapton, and the Stones were influenced greatly by early American rock. For example, who was the most covered artist by the Beatles on their albums?

Check out "Million Dollar Quartet" when you get the chance...great story...great music. My 12 YO son and I spent 3 hours at Sun Studio in Memphis earlier this year. It was an unforgettable adventure, being in a place where musical history was made.
