Thank you for the reference to Harris and, although I've not read his books, I did find what I believe to be a faithful synopsis on the Internet.

A fascinating approach to anthropology, which says in effect that societies create myths to sanctify that which is practically necessary for survival. In the case of the modern collectivist it seems that these people are creating myths which make survival impractical.
