Need some help remembering: where Mike Huckabee has demonstrated his establishment thinking and his lack of understanding of conservative issues (outside of the social issues)- and where he has bought into big government solutions.
I'm on a panel tomorrow about Huckabee in 2016 (I did not choose the topic) - and I need some memory jogging.
Uh....that was my point!
Huck hung on to drive Romney out.
Sorry, but with two posts on it, it is very clear that you were supporting Romney in 2008.
Sorry...Your mind reading sucks

In the 2008 nomination cycle, Huck stayed in the race just to ensure Romney didnt get the nomination.

Only a Romney supporter would worry about something like that, a Lt. Gov. and three term Governor (Huckabee) didn’t need a special reason to run for president, a failed one term governor who left office with 34% approval and who was rejected for reelection (Romney), did.
That was not my point. Huck was not relevant to the Romney campaign, or to anything - other than a few “screw McCain” votes way after the deal was done.
Huck had nothing to do with Romney dropping out. (as a side note, Romney ran a more conservative campaign in 07-08 then he did in the 11-12 primary season so in the intervening four years, he got WORSE. )
Huck’s 08 campaign had nothing to do with Romney. Romney’s dropping out had nothing to do with Huck. Huck was never relevant. Neither was Ron Paul. They just both hung in there for ever. It was over after Florida - when Charlie Crist, then a Republican, helped McCain campaign.
I agree 1000%
I don’t remember the details but I do remember him saying we should buy a musical instrument for every kid in America.
Maybe he just got a little overenthusiastic.
Do you really think he was calling for a federal program to do that?
.just what the Founders had in mind by limited government, don’t you think???
/s
As I remember it yes.
Sorry to say, but I listened to two interviews with him during his 2008 campaign and decided he was a shallow conservative and a phony. I haven’t paid attention to him since then although I share his pro life/socon beliefs.
Yep, he’s a shallow phony conservative - who happens to be right on the social issues. A pro life liberal of sorts.
Being only one third believer in the Reagan formula seemed like a disaster to me.
Your mind reading ability continues to fail.
not reading minds, reading tea leaves, and I’m dadburned good at that particular skill.
uh... ya....we’ve noticed.....
Newt might’ve won ‘12 or he might have totally imploded. I don’t think one can rule anything out with him. When he’s great, he’s the best. When he’s bad, he’s one of the worst. But when he’s on, no one can take apart a liberal in a debate better than Newt. And I don’t just mean televised debates, I mean an entire campaign of slaughtering liberal ideas.
No “gift” necessary for that assessment.
When Romney backed off of his debate win, it was obvious he didn’t know how to win the fight.
