I was watching some of this on a live stream.
Does anyone know why so many of the people on that street have backpacks?

Either they are carrying all their worldly possessions in those packs or they hope to fill them with “stuff” later tonight.

Bricks, molative cocktails, gas, gas masks, etc. They certainly aren’t on their way to school.

Um - that looks sorta ominous.
Many decades ago my youthful grandparents were on vacation in Hot Springs Arkansas when grandpa started noticing stereotypical-looking hillbilly characters milling around all over town, each one lugging around a rucksack. Made grandpa kinda uneasy particularly since said hillbillies didn't look exactly friendly. While they were in some antique store/junk shop grandpa asked the proprietor about all the sketchy characters roaming the streets - the guy in the store nonchalantly replied "Oh, that's a feud" and went on to explain that when enough from both sides came into town, things should hit critical mass and there would be a showdown. The rucksacks contained pistols and/or disassembled (broke down) shotguns. Since dodging stray rounds was not their idea of fun grandpa and grandma got back to the hotel, packed up and got the heck out of town.

Does anyone know why so many of the people on that street have backpacks? Yes, when you go out to riot, you should always carry items such as snacks, crackers, a frozen whole chicken, water, matches, or lighters...Stuff like that.
