My grandparents on both sides were Cajun, and French was their primary language. When my mother and father went to schools in Louisiana, French was forbidden, and all classes were in English. Somehow, my parents managed to 1) get a first class education and do very well in life, 2) keep speaking French when required, and 2) maintain a strong link to their heritage. Guess that makes the 1930s Lousiana far more advanced than the 2000s New York et al.

I don’t know if I’d condone banning Spanish in public schools, but I most certainly would push having ALL education classes in English. Spanish speaking children can receive extensive English training daily...and immersing them into the English classes will further aid the process.

Nothing will prevent them from being proud of their heritage, and nothing could or should prevent them from retaining their first-learned language.

On an aside note, any company that answers their phone with “Press X for Y language” looses my business.

Immediately.

All obama wants to do is have all languages in the schools so there is no uniformity, and no nation. A great ball of confusion. Tha’ts all.

Remember its this cultural richness that will better America.

We need more pygmy cannibals and their culture from the Amazon. We need more turd worlders here to give Obama more advice to expedite his goals. More liberians and their constant state of confusion.
Muslims? We need more hard core terrorists advising America in global politics. yup, more left wingers, and nazis are needed. Its the cultural experience that will better us!

It will give us a better, stronger America!

Cajun?

Like the Cajuns were some 100 million strong ethnic group? How many of you are there, or ever were, 300,00 or so? To do business with their neighbors, English was mandatory for every other American ethnic group, like yours.

But now the English arithmetic is over. The United States has never faced this kind of ... invasa-gration .... or whatever TF it is. The Latinos, Hispanics, Ticos, Guatafricos, Chicanos, or Ricky Ricardos are on the way to becoming the country's MAJORITY. I was in a small town in central North Carolina ... their Ace Hardware runs in Spanish first! North Carolina?

Comparing this mass movement of entire populations to the Cajuns, or the Italians, or the Irish, the Germans, or the Swedes is absolutely a non-starter. The Mexicans alone dwarf the number of all immigrants combined for the last 150 years. If everyone speaks Spanish, why use English, the new minority language?

Ecoute-moi mon ami, trop de piment rouge dans ta jambalaya!
