I will not make the usual "If they could only marry" joke.

I learned some information yesterday that chilled me to the bone and will say this to all FReepers, sex perverts are in all churches. Parents don't be freaking stupid.

And nobody wants to talk about the decades of hiding sex abusers in the Public School systems.

“Years of investigating abuse cases—“we spend our days swimming in Christian cesspools,” he says—has left him hypervigilant. Megachurches with thousands of volunteers unnerve him, and after working on too many cases where girls were molested by someone in their best friend’s family, Tchividjian and his wife no longer let their daughters spend the night at friends’ houses, let alone church camps or “lock-in” church-basement sleepovers. “

Mega church ping worthy? Or just good common sense?

It isn’t a Protestant or Catholic thing.
It’s the culture that does not guard or protect it’s children.
Send them off to schools who encourage immorality.
Throw modesty out the window.
Send them off to play sports and engage in fun activities that treat boys and girls as one sex.
Saturate the culture with pornography and every evil thing...
The list goes on and on. Children become prey to every evil inclination of the adults around them.

sex perverts are in all churches

I remember the great protestant witch hunt of the 1980s which is why I won't join in on the Catholic bashing over every allegation.

For those who don't remember, hundreds were accused and only a handful were convicted. Whole congregations lost their children. It all collapsed when it was proved that psychologists involved were coaching kids on what to say in their testimony.

The elephant in the room is the pervasive sexual culture here in the USA.

It is not surprising at all that abuse would also be found within all Christian schools and churches. In fact, it is all around us, and for some odd reason, our culture seems to be backing away from God and any moral guides that have guided our ancestors in the past. We will rue the day that we have eliminated references to God in our schools.

Could it be that evil does exist? Is Satan for real? Is there such at thing as sin? Can promiscuity actually be bad for you? Yes to all these things.

May God have mercy upon us all.

...clinical psychologist Anna Salter [wrote] in her book Predators: Pedophiles, Rapists, And Other Sex Offenders: “Church people”—always looking to see the best in people, to welcome converts, to save sinful souls—are “easy to fool.”

...Christians’ openness can allow abuse to go unchecked: Perpetrators tend to use scripture to coerce, justify, and silence. If they’re clergy, they will exploit their positions; if they’re laypeople, they will take advantage of a church hungry for volunteers and rely on the trust given to members of a church family. “The reason why offenders get away with what they do is because we have too many cultures of silence... When something does surface, all too often the church leadership quiets it down. Because they’re concerned about reputation: ‘This could harm the name of Jesus, so let’s just take care of it internally.’

Sexual perverts are opportunistic, and this country has given them carte blanche to multiply and spread.

There is nothing “conservative” about sexual abuse, you have to have a very open mind to think that is okay.

We had a recent experience with some rumors a person in authority at a religious affiliated educational institution. No clue if the rumors are true as we don’t know the people involved well. But we did hear the words, “How can we make this go away?” Makes me very suspicious now.
