But why take out your action on other innocent dogs when the human is to blame? The dogs wouldn’t have shot your dog.
Same basic law here in Florida.
It's tit for tat. You could ask the same question of the cops who shot "your" innocent dog. Not that there is moral justification in tit for tat, but killing livestock is a lesser offense than doing violence against a human.
To protect (our pensions) and to serve (our unions.)
Absolutely correct.
Here is a brochure detailing how you should interact with your local law-enforcement, made available by myself as a public-service:
Stop, Drop, and Cower

Years ago, I discovered that Louisiana has something called a "general speed law."
That's what the cop mumbled as he wrote me a speeding ticket for driving 5 mph UNDER the speed limit.
Please don’t assume what I never said.
And please drop the fur baby and PETA schtick. You don’t know me, and obviously don’t know what you are trying to smear and mock me with (hopefully).

So, basically unless you’re going EXACTLY the speed limit they can give you a ticket?
What a load.
Uhdontthinkso ..
Not exactly.
The way the good officer explained it to me is that if the speed limit is 25 mph (which it was) but -- in the officer's opinion -- traveling 25 mph was unsafe due to road conditions, said officer could decide what is a safe speed to travel. Anyone exceeding this arbitrary made-up speed limit would be in violation of the law.
I was driving 20 mph and got a speeding ticket. In a 25 mph zone.
BTW, it was a hot, sunny July day and the road conditions were perfect.
You apparently haven’t read it... it’s full of sarcasm, cynicism, and seems to ever-more-aptly describe our “public servants”.
It’s not easy to read google docs on a 4 inch screen, but I did get the general idea.
Ouch. / Condolences.
I wouldn't want to torment anyone's eyes like that.
Yep and humans are 500x more dangerous and most cases much less trustworthy.
WTH is going. There was never any indication this child was even in that yard. He was at home asleep. Something smells here. I am getting really sick of some officers thinking they can use family pets as target practice. Send the guy to jail.

I'd like to read some good news for a change
There were bad cops and bad precincts then but the degeneration over the past 20 years has been tremendous.
The generally untenable claims of radicals so long ago
resulted in an initial mindset for many of discounting
genuine claims of abuse.
See e.g. Beichman’ Nine Lies About America.
sadly obsolescent now.
I fairly often muse on their apparent prescience, and
wonder what some of the more vocal are saying now, if
anything.
A new “meme” that’s emerged quite recently is that
oppposition to the government is per se malign.
It's incidents just like this one that make you a part of an ever shrinking minority.
He should sue them personally and make it hurt. If he has video give it to the local media, buy billboards with the shooters face titled: Dog Killer!
IMO there’s more of the abuse, the abuse is more serious
*and* it’s more convincingly reported. cf. Scott Greenfield
