They can be games, useful stuff, whatevah. Free is better.
Some of my faves:
- GasBuddy -- shows least expensive gas prices in your area. Save me like $0.80 on each tank of gas.
- QuizUp -- Trivia game in which I regularly crush opponents (usually from non-English speaking 3rd world countries). Very satisfying.
- GoogleDrive -- like Evernote and Dropbox, this will sync files from your iPhone and personal computer with cloud-based storage. Works pretty well.
- SkyView Free -- so that's where that planet is right now

I’m looking for an app that will make a phone call.

So why do you assume that cell phones are that popular. They do not work over half of the country?

I have very poor radio reception out here, so I use the Mark Levin app quite often.

I love the concept of Trapster, but it’s a long way from actually being useful.
I do love the Spotify app.

You might be better off asking about Linux apps for their Linux phones.

Waze. Better than any GPS I’ve ever used. I use it everyday to guide me to at least 7 unique addresses each day.

I don't have an iPhone, it's a Droid RAZR. TuneIn Radio is cool, one can listen to just about anything in the world.
I have a couple of tuner and metronome apps, a copy of the Constitution, couple of piano and percussion apps.
I work at Home Depot, so I have the Home Depot app in case I need to look something up.
And of course, there's the Walking Dead 'Dead Yourself' app, which lets one zombify pictures, like I did to Heather here:
