This is the reason that Cantor resigned immediately. They believe that they have the support and the votes to replace Cantor with one of their ilk. By doing it now and giving the new Majority Leader six months to do favors for members, they believe that they can prevail when the new caucus assembles for the New Congress. They intend to roll over the newbies.
Your expectations are way too high. This is the Stupid Party we’re talking about.
Email, phone and fax you feelings to your congress critter, maybe he/she will pay attention.
Better yet, show up at your congress critter's office and have your feelings in writing and politely ask for his/her liaison in the district, again politely ask him/her to share your feelings with his/her boss!
FYI - I stress "politely" doing the above for a very specific reason: if you are rude, angry or threatening in any way, they are instructed to call the police after the Gabby Gifford shooting but be firm in your conviction while being very polite.
