this is just one possible answer to the “Fermi paradox”
there are many. many others
my favorite is the thought that a given civilization must develop three things before a trip to another star becomes the least bit inviting, money, banks and compound interest

It’s possible that these aliens happened to tune into a radio station playing rap and that concluded the matter for them.
