“Not sure what the writers point is, but Im sure it misses the point completely.”
Poorly written, but the point is that Bundy didn’t follow the law and got away with it.
Burning Man is an annual festival held on public land and they pay millions in BLM fees every year. BLM also places very strict limits on number of people, traffic, garbage, etc.
So this guy is saying “since the law doesn’t matter, we can have a festival for free with unlimited people on public land!”
It all boils down to the bigger questions: Should feds indefinitely own and administer so much land? Shouldn’t the land be private and free to use by the owner?
I think the land should be open to public bid.
As a side note, I’ve been to Burning Man 4 times and so have many other FReepers. You can not judge the festival as a whole from what you read. It is really unlike anything else in the world and there is something for everyone. Last time, I spend the entire time in lectures and workshops that I wouldn’t find anywhere in one place.
Do you see now how the burning man people are fascist and willing to act on it?
It won’t be too long before there is a person in the wicker.
I think the writer is making a broader point than the one you suggest.
Bundy’s argument is that the BLM has multiple mandates for that land and instead has chosen just to focus on the Endangered Species Act. Keep in mind that a species is undefined.
