I wish I knew what was in the water that the Republican leadership is drinking so we can administer a counteragent. Democrats are floundering as more and more people start realizing the true cost of ObamaCare, not to mention the out of control spending of Washington. Across the county, progressive liberal programs are being attacked and rolled back, such as Common Core. Despite the mainstream media constantly shielding Obama and actively participating in his lies, a majority of Americans believe that he lies on important issues. With all these things lining up in the Republicans' favor, you would think they would just continue pounding him on those issues. Instead, we get more push for immigration reform, which will just lead to amnesty and an open border.
It's been reported that Speaker John Boehner and other establishment Republicans told donors that they aim to pass immigration reform this year. At a Las Vegas fundraiser last month, Boehner said that he was "hellbent on getting this done." Sadly, Boehner is not alone in this sentiment. The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Bob Goodlatte, told Silicon Valley executives that he was upbeat about passing such legislation this year. One executive said that Goodlatte told him that they could have votes on as many as five to seven immigration bills this summer. One such bill being drafted is by Mario Diaz-Balart, which will give illegal aliens legal status and the ability to apply for citizenship. The bill adds border security measures, but we all know that will never happen.
For some reason, John Boehner and the establishment Republicans seem to think that Obama will enforce the totality of any bill that they pass. The truth is that he will just do what he always does, pick and choose which laws he wants to enforce and which ones he wants to ignore. You can see his actions by the declining court deportations in the last five years. The federal government, under Obama, is bringing fewer deportation cases to the courts, and the number of deportations have fallen a whopping 43 percent. Not to mention that his administration has released 68,000 illegal aliens that had criminal convictions upon an unsuspecting public. Then we have Obama's Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, calling illegal immigrants "inspiring." He's not alone in blowing kisses towards those that break our laws. Former governor of Florida Jeb Bush recently said that illegal aliens ignore our sovereignty "out of love."
It's a sad state of affairs. We have a good chance to take control of the Senate if the Republicans would just get their act together. Instead, they seem focused on committing suicide by allowing at least 12 million illegals (and it's probably a lot more) to become legal citizens. These people have no desire to integrate into our American culture. They're just here to make as much cash as they can or live off the government teat. A successful victory in the upcoming midterm elections would stonewall Obama for the last two years of his term, and the repealing of his wealth and freedom-destroying policies can begin. But it seems that Boehner and the other Republican knuckleheads want to be like the hare racing the tortoise. Finish line in sight and victory is ensured? Time to stop and take a nap before we finish, and then find ourselves plucking defeat from the jaws of victory.
Both parties are absolutely useless, and completely sold out.
Stop the immigration sell-out.
America already is the most open country in the entire globe.
Bring back American businesses, to America. Hire Americans. Do NOT increase immigration, and stop selling out our businesses.
For real.
Bring back American jobs.
Now.
Newsflash: Once again the GOP has an election in the bag if they don’t do anything stupid to screw it up. And here they come with something stupid...
I wonder if any Federal land was acquired through confiscation from the original owners by BLM or EPA regulations.
The prime imperative of the leadership of the Republican party is to maintain the status quo of increasing government power and income. That will only change when a revolution of the citizenry throws every statist out of office.
This is the result of bad versus horrible. Many of the people on this forum will be furious this election because their Republican (Representative/Senator/whatever)voted for this stupidity. They will be mad and determined to never vote for the fool again!
Then the curtain in the voting booth closes. Most will be faced with:
- the idiot Republican that just sold you down the river.
- an ultra liberal, anti-American, democrap
- a variety of third party candidates that have no chance.
As you ponder the situation, your mind goes through possibilities - “I vote protest and cast my vote for one of the third parties - that will teach them.” except for the fact that this almost surely means this will get the anti-American democrap candidate elected (think not, look at the 1992 Presidential election.)
“I just vote at all” - see the above outcome.
Ultimately, most will hold their nose, try to keep lunch down, and vote for the Republican as the lesser of two evils. And the Republicans know this. No self respecting conservative could ever vote for most of the democrap candidates. So the Republicans can pander to big business, and still know we'll have no choice but to vote for them.
Ain't life grand in these times - sarcasm off.
That the GOP establishment is persisting in something that the base absolutely HATES tells me that the illegal alien/open borders lobbies are insisting on getting what they have already paid for.
It seems like we are screwed, no matter what we do. I went Galt.
“It seems like we are screwed, no matter what we do”
I think the only thing short of an armed revolution that could turn things around is if for some reason the democraps decided to move right. That would force the Republicans further to the right and make them keep good on their promises.
Unfortunately, the idiot democraps just keep moving farther and farther to the left, allowing the Republicans to drift farther left with them and leaving us with nothing but RINOs to chose from.
Some choice.
With Cruz now interested in Immigration Reform, I imagine it just got a ton easier for the Republicans to pass anything they want.
I read the article posted, twice.
I don’t see the mention of Cruz. Could you please point out what it is you are referring to?
Thanks.
I take issue with Cruz on one topic which he started to run on, but I am 100% in his corner on everything else.
I don’t believe he is at all, a part of any immegration problem.
At all.

So sorry you missed it. Cruz is exactly the person I suspected all along. FREEPERS are FINALLY waking up to him. I thought it would take longer but lucky for all of us, the truth is beginning to be exposed.
I don’t know.
Thanks for your referral, but I have not given up on Cruz at all.
I am opposed to him on one issue - which he seems to have fortunately stopped talking about.
But I am (strongly) for him on the entire rest of his platform. At least as I understand it.
I appreciate your feedback, and remain open to discussion but I am very much for Cruz at the moment.
I believe he is in the right place, so far.
You are right. I have my own opinion about it, but I think I will keep it to myself :-)
I am praying Republicans will win both houses in November, but given their track record I am pretty sure as of today that they are going to screw it up.
Are Republicans stupid enough to self destruct while they are running ahead? Well yes, yes they are. They will find the worst thing they can do, and do it.
Hm, GOPE… I kinda like that, its pronunciation rhymes with both 'Hope' and 'Nope'.
