People voted to reject the animated contest of freedom in favor of the tranquility of servitude. The Law of the Land rejected in favor of the lying words of that certain "politic minister".

I was taken by this part in particular:

Being that this is spring, I was just thinking earlier today (after a couple days of windy and stormy weather) that as the plants and trees grow, they need that wind to toughen them up and make them strong and resilient. Perpetually staked trees become dependent on their "chains", too weak to stand on their own. Chauncy Gardener lives.

Can't help wondering what he and his cohorts would think of our current situation. .

I suspect that after the initial shock wore off, those Founders who hadn't died from sudden heart attacks would assess the situation and say,

How is this possible? Only by the grace and mercy of the LORD God is this country still clinging to life.
