The BB gun is the worst invention ever. It’s small enough to be considered a toy but big/powerful enough to really cause property damage and/or hurt someone. I was never allowed to have a BB gun as a kid, my parents would only allow me to own a real gun (after a lot of training and showing that I was mature enough to handle it).
You have a good point. I figure you might as well just start kids with a .22. Even with a BB gun the same rules of safety and responsibility apply and need to be followed and a .22 is a lot more fun and used to be cheap enough to shoot.
