MSFT is now in the process of trying to make Win 8 look like Win 7. What does that tell you?

Dell, Lenovo (my personal fav), et al have backed away from Win 8. Some of them are offering Win 7 on new machines. Reason? Win 8 is so radically different from Win 7 that their tech support departments have been totally overwhelmed with folks wanting to know how to use Win 8. Most popular questions: “Where’s the Start button?” and “Where’s the Shutdown button?”

Both can be had by installing Classic Shell. http://www.classicshell.net/

Other “Most Popular Questions:”

Where did my cursor go?

Why did the screen go black while I was watching a movie?

What the !*#@! happened to my page?!

How the !%*&! did I end up here?!

It tells me that Win 8 is a improved version of Win 7. They are very similar. The problem is Microsoft tried to force people to use the new UI without an easy way to opt out. That's changed. It's now easy to default to the desktop, and essentially have the Win 7 experience with Win 8.
