"There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit." Al Gallagher, ( retired major leaguer, quoted in 1971)

Hopefully we will see another 90-win effort from the Tribe.

I can’t wait to see a baseball stadium in Tampa, near the Forum (where the Lightning play).

An even better spot would be around exit 6 of I-4, next to the Hard Rock and across from the State Fairgrounds. The Tampa fans could come west a few miles, northern and southern fans could take I-75 to exit 8, while Polk & Lake counties, along with the whole Orlando Metroplex, would become potential ticket-buyers. We could get the nightly take up to 20,000 from the present 10,000, there would be more than enough money to keep players going into free agency from leaving the team, and the Rays would be the nemesis of the AL East for a generation. There would probably even be support for light rail from the airport to downtown out to the Hard Rock/stadium area, so people from SoHo, Davis Islands, NoHo and Carrollwood could park and ride, and the fairgrounds would become a magnet for more attractions.

I don't think the Yanks make the playoffs.

Not a snowball's chance in Tampa, and the Sox don't have the mojo this year that they did last. As a Rays fan, it's the Jays and the O's that scare me: the Jays have something to prove after their collapse last year, and the O's aren't going to have the injuries this year that kept them down last year.

Opening Day, when hopes spring again for all baseball fans. Will my Birds of Bal-tee-more make the post-season, hon? I doubt it ... not enough pitching in a loaded division. Nonetheless, GO O's!

8. Will the Minnesota Twins hit a home run this season?

And of course, like 99.999% of us, your NCAA bracket is busted..most likely after the first two days.

I was still alive going into the Sweet 16 but saw all my chosen FF teams knocked out (Iowa State, Michigan, and Arizona.)

The contracts being handed out continue to astound. Canoe, Cabrera, Fielder, Trout...just to name a few.

Giving out these long-term hundreds-of-millions contracts is insane (just from a business standpoint). Have GMs not seen what has happened with A-Rod and Albert Pujols, just to name two?

Will Robinson Canoe find happiness in Seattle?

I think he will regret leaving New York. Of course he has all that $ to comfort him....

I think Seattle is going to be pretty good this year.

No kiddin. Most around here think Ms Upton was the cause of JV’s mediocre performance in 2013...

Do tell!

I abhor, despise, loathe, detest, and revile Bud Selig. Did I mention that I can’t stand him either?

I had to see the Rangers play the Reds, when the Reds came to town last season. You know, being a BuckeyeTexan and all. :) Wore my Nolan Ryan jersey and my Pete Rose cap.

A woman like that ruined Tony Romo early on in his career.

Coaching HS baseball at 63; in the outfield one day just shagging, though I can’t run much for wayward flies anymore. Then, a glimpse toward the plate, I cover my face with my glove to just below my eyes and breathe in its leather smell. Another deep breath and I’m a kid again. I sweep it away and punch hard into it. “C’mon, right here. Right here!” decidedly above a whisper. Then suddenly here it comes, high, high, a couple of steps back then right into the pocket, that special slap when you know you’ve got it securely. Set your feet, take it out and heave it in for all it’s worth, even if you can’t quite reach home plate anymore. ...You know you can’t play with these kids tomorrow. But you can sure practice with them today, and know you’re moving baseball forward.

What a wonderful feeling. Of all the jobs I ever had, this is the greatest.

You cheered and groaned and criticized and cursed at your team, your players, your manager.

But that was last year, and you’re back for more.

"My Cincinnati Reds are a big question mark."

As Old Hamilton Joe used to close his radio broadcasts with "rounding third and heading for home", the Reds home is the basement. At least the Cubbies will give Cincy a run for their last place money. Where is Wally Post and Big Klu when you need them?

I don’t see them in the basement, but I don’t see them in the playoffs either.

Pitching is the issue for them. If there are miraculous recoveries, then they’re a 90 win team and probably a wildcard.

I’m a Rockies fan, not that they are any good but they have a fantastic old-style stadium, great views, and play slow enough to make for a great day in the sunshine. (yes, that was drippy sarcasm about their play)

A baseball game rarely gets exciting but I do enjoy the day out in the sunshine.
