Apart from the very fortunate circumstance of US Airways Flight 1549 that was landed in New York's Hudson river being near the river when the engines cut out, the pilot was able to gently guild that plane on a gentle glide path onto the river keeping the plane from breaking up.
Not so with a larger plane coming in into the Ocean from 10's of thousands of feet, even if they gained control of the plane.
Has anyone seen that one plane on you tube that was hijacked by some hijackers who flew a plane into the ocean ? the plane broke up.
US Airways flight 1549 was the exception to the rule, not all water landing end so well.

Ethiopian Airlines was the one that broke up during the hijacking. Water is like concrete at speed.
