According to Cinque, Officer Joseph Peterson, who made comments in interaction on Facebook while off duty that he would "give my left nut to bang down your door and come for your gun…" has been placed on 24-hour guard due to threats on his life.

Well well, Joe.
You're Billy Badass when you're rollin' with your blue posse, aren't you? Not so much when it's just you at home versus 300,000 armed neighbors, huh?
Scratch a bully, find a coward.

Only fools make threats. We keep the moral high ground by exposing their threats and holding them accountable. The moral high ground, used effectively, can be a very strategically valuable position.

Keep cool, speak the truth and stand with the good people of Connecticut.

I wonder if he has to have his wife and kids and other family members under 24 hour guard too? I’ll bet they aren’t real happy about him running his mouth.

perhaps, they have been reminded/heard of the Battle of Athens, TN. (1946)..
the politicians whom voted for this execrable act, should de-elected/impeached/recalled
immediately..then tarred/feathered/ridden-out-on-a-rail..excommunicated from any publicly
financed position.

Hopefully his wife and kids who are not members of law enforcement have been free from threats.

As a thought experiment here, just imagine if all of the politicians from the governor down to the lowliest town-selectman called upon the various police departments to provide armed protection against the citizens of your state who have been harmed by stupid and idiotic laws like these.

There wouldn’t be anyone left to do the confiscation let alone the normal day-to-day policing activities such as writing traffic tickets. And when revenues start to drop they just might reconsider what they have done.

Does everyone in the state who receives death threats receive 24 hour police protection?

Or just members of the club?

I have no doubt that a lot of it depends on ones political party...

A question-—Without the threats would an ‘apology’ have even been offered? And as such, is the ‘apology’ real or one made under duress to escape resulting consequences? Just asking.....

My question is why aren’t they dragging Officer Peterson’s butt out in front of a camera with an apology?

Sounds like Officer Joseph should be up on departmental charges for making threats and improper use of authority to threaten a citizen. Luckily there were no puppies around for him to take out his ire on.

'How can you help us with this?'

Easy. Fire that {expletive} that made the comments. Strip him of any severance and pension. He is an enemy of the Constitution and an example should be made of him. That would stop this in its tracks. Show some backbone, show support for your peoples' rights.

If I was the K-9 officer, I’d bite officer Peterson on his butt.

What, the citizen didn’t receive protection after the stupid cop threatened to kick his door down?

Not only should he be fired, but he should never be allowed to work as a law enforcement officer again — anywhere in the United States. Perhaps he'd feel more home in Cuba or Venezuela.

Hopefully his wife and kids who are not members of law enforcement have been free from threats.

I also hope that is the case.

But...but, it must not be forgotten that he and only he is responsible for his [fascist] threats. As such *he* is the root cause of the current situation. If his family is undeservedly suffering here, they should be blaming him for bring this sh1tstorm down.

As I read this piece, it certainly looks to me as if the police department expects John Cirque to bail their respective asses out, without any genuine concessions on their part. Eff 'em.

For his part, Cinque said there would have to be several things in the apology before he would endorse it. One of those things would be remedial training in the United States Constitution for Officer Joseph Peterson and the other officers of the Branford Police Department. Another would be a stand that the Police Department would not be involved in the enforcement of the gun registration law.

They'll be happy to promise to institute BS training, because A) that's what it will be, wink wink, BS training. And B) They are not going to refuse to participate in enforcement of the gun registration law. They are going to wait out John Cirque expecting him to back down because they know he is an honorable man and to them honor is a sign of weakness. I hope he doesn't back down on his demands. This battle needs to come to a head sooner rather than later. Fewer lives will be lost if it does.
