One third of a central Californian town's police force were taken off duty after several officers were arrested, U.S. authorities have revealed. Four detectives from King City in California were taken into custody yesterday and questioned regarding a scheme which involved the impounded cars of underprivileged Hispanics. The officers involved include the recently retired police chief and the acting chief. Two other officers were questioned on unrelated charges and have been placed on paid administrative leave, KSBW TV reported. There has been a significant breakdown in the internal leadership of the King City Police Department,' Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo said. 'It also appears to me that some officers have dishonored their badge.' The six officers account for more than a third of the 17-member force in the agricultural town in California. Teams from the Monterey County sheriff's office, the FBI, the Salinas Police Department and the district attorney's bureau of investigation arrested the officers after a month long investigation. It began as a response to complaints by residents of corruption and criminal acts within the department dating back at least 3 and a half years, All seven of those arrested were bailed out of jail within hours. The probe revealed that the scheme focused on poor Hispanic residents including many who don't speak English. More than 200 vehicles had been impounded Mr Flippo claimed.

illegals often drive REALLLLLY nice pick ups

But, but they're underprivileged! The cops should have called ICE and if ICE can't be bothered then cart them to the border with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Did Alaska Wolf get tired of Alaska and move south? ;-)

null: you'll probably have to start pinging doc1019 along with AW. doc1019 was a Farce Enlawment Orifice, who believes in wooden shampoos for Down Syndrome kids with colostomy bags.

Never know when a Downs Mundane is going to "packing sheet"...

After 52 year of experience in America, I don’t trust the cops.

Well, with 60 years of experience in America, I have admit that for the first 40 I did trust the cops. I revered them almost. The last 20 -- not so much.

What a shame it's come to this.

i wonder what this does to the court system in that area. Every single case those clowns touched could be compromised. The city could be looking at some very serious financial liabilities. If I ever got a ticket there, I’d send them a registered letter politely stating that I’d be willing to settle for double the cost of the ticket - before I get lawyers involved.

Same here. It must be very hard for young people to believe that they were the most trustworthy members of the community at one time.

In some cases, authorities said officers simply kept the cars for their own use.

officers tied to the alleged car theft scheme have each been charged with bribery, accepting a bribe or embezzlement. All seven of those arrested were bailed out of jail within hours.

This is what they do in Mechico.....

After the trial, will they be arresting the criminal illegal aliens who the cops were ripping off?

Who's going to investigate those arresting the cops?
